Vintage childrens trousers UNUSED Cord leggings slacks 1930s 1950s SHOP SOILED

Children's vintage corduroy trousers, probably made in the 1950s or possibly in the 1930s, just before the war.
They have a definitely old-fashioned cut, with the ankle buttons and flared tops giving a rather equestrian look, a bit like jodphurs and spats.

They are cotton corduroy, in a creamy white colour.

They have never been used - this is unsold shop stock, and has been stored at the shop for the last half-century or so.
This is a well-made garment designed to be suitable for either sex.

They still have the original pre-decimal shop price on the hand-written shop sticker - it was 16/11 (sixteen shillings and elevenpence).

Elasticated waist, with the ends exposed so you can adjust it to fit your child

These garments were made long before the days when "garment care instructions" were sewn into every garment.

I would suggest hand washing separately, just to be on the safe side.

They are labelled (not very helpfully!) by leg length rather than age.

I would think this is possibly about 2-3 years, but please check the measurements on your own child's clothing, to make sure.

Outside leg length (waist to hem) 21 1/2 inches..........Inside leg 14 1/2 inches
Outside leg length (waist to hem) 18 1/2 inches..........Inside leg 13 inches

Shop soiled.

These leggings are unsold shop stock, from the 1950s.

Most of them still have their handwritten original shop price sticker attached.

The clothes have been properly stored in the shop, and are in good general condition, as you can see.

However, they do have some marks from storage.

However, as they are about half a century old, they will need to be hand-washed before use.

The elastic may also need to be changed.

Please remember that although they are well made, they are old, and not really suitable for prolonged or robust use.
