This garment was made about 70 years ago.
Amazingly, it still has the original "Cherub guarantee" card attached.
This promises to replace any Cherub garment that proves unsatisfactory (this guarantee has of course expired now!).
It also contains illustrations of other items from the Cherub range - a sort of mini-catalogue.
The vests is still marked with the original shop price.
This was 5/11 (five shillings and elevenpence).
UNUSED but SHOP SOILED.
This vest is unworn, and in fairly good condition, but discoloured.
It is unsold shop stock from around the late 1930s.
It has been properly stored, but "on top of the pile".
Part of the vest at the front has discoloured - probably just from touching the brown paper which was used to wrap the bundle of vests.
There is also some discolouration along the fold lines, as you can see from the photographs.
I do not know whether these marks will fade in the wash - I suspect not, as they are over half a century old.
In view of its age, if you are thinking of wearing the vest, it will need to be hand-washed or dry-cleaned before use, and treated gently.
