Vintage 1960s dress size 12 UNUSED crimped polyester Caprice SHOP SOILED blue

A ladies' pinafore dress, made in the 1960s, but never used.
Caprice brand
Button front
Sleeveless
Unlined
V neck
Two large front pockets
It is labelled as being made of "crimped polyester" - this is very like Crimplene, but there is no Crimplene brand label.
This blouse is unsold shop stock from a drapers' shop which has recently closed.
It has been properly stored, and is still in fairly good general condition, but unfortunately shop soiled (see details below).

Size: UK size 12 approximately.

The sewn-in label says:........... Hips 38" ..........96 cm
The hand-written shop label, says:....... Size 14......Hips 38"
This information was clearly added to the label in the 1970s (as it has a decimal price), but the sizing appears to be the old BSS size, which is equivalent to a modern UK size 12.
The actual measurements of the dress are:
Bust 37"..............Waist 34".............Hips 39".........Length 39".............Shoulder to shoulder 14"

Colour:
  • Turquoise
Condition
SHOP SOILED.
New and unused, but around half a century old.
The dress is in fairly good general condition, but it smells a little musty, and has some storage spots on the front, and grubby marks along the shoulders and hem.
They are shown in the close-up photographs.
I do not know whether these will come out in the wash.
The buttons are very slightly scratched.
In view of its age, the garment should be washed before use, and treated more gently than if it were recently made.
