An old dressing table pot, made of ebony and Sterling silver.
It would originally have formed part of an ebony dressing table set.
I am not sure what its intended function was - presumably to hold ointment or powder.
It is one-and-a-half inches tall on the outside.
MADE IN ENGLAND
are marked on the base.
The Sterling silver mount on the top is unfortunately severely damaged, with the right half missing, as you can see.
The silver is hallmarked, from London Assay Office.
I am not a silver expert, but I believe the date letter is from 1922.
The maker's mark is WR.
