Vintage 1920s ebony & silver ointment jar Hallmarked London Art Deco pot DAMAGED

Vintage 1920s ebony & silver ointment jar Hallmarked London Art Deco pot DAMAGED

An old dressing table pot, made of ebony and Sterling silver.

It would originally have formed part of an ebony dressing table set.

I am not sure what its intended function was - presumably to hold ointment or powder.

It is one-and-a-half inches tall on the outside.

The words:

EBONY

MADE IN ENGLAND

are marked on the base.

The Sterling silver mount on the top is unfortunately severely damaged, with the right half missing, as you can see.

The silver is hallmarked, from London Assay Office.

I am not a silver expert, but I believe the date letter is from 1922.

The maker's mark is WR.

CONDITION:

DAMAGED
The ebony is in very good condition, and the lid screws on and off easily and firmly.
The silver mount is damaged, as you can see, with the right-hand side entirely missing.
Please see the photographs to get a good idea of the condition of this item.
