Style number 1261
This is a vintage item, made in the 1950s but never used.
It is unsold shop stock from the 1950s.
It is still in its original packet - the packet is scuffed and rather tatty, but the garment itself is in beautiful condition.
It was made before the days of fabric composition labels.
The label says:
Sanforized Regd SHRUNK
FABRIC Contains NYLON
(Sanforization was a process for shrinking fabric, so that it didn't need to be washed and shrunk "at home" before it could be worn.)
The box says:
ALL ELASTIC FRAME FOR HEAVENLY COMFORT AND FIT
THE BRA THAT BANISHES 'SPARE-TIRE' FOREVER
Bias-cut Elastic side panels move with you, breathe with you
Elastic criss-cross front lets you reach and stretch freely
Elastic Magic Midriff gives the smoothest bust-to-hip line ever
There is no date of manufacture on the box, but it has a UK patent number that was granted in the 1950s.
