An old but serviceable traditional stud box, suitable for carrying cufflinks, studs, tie pins etc.
The lid of the box is embossed with the entertaining (and highly religious) motto:
A Stud put away Saves a damn every day
The inside of the lid is marked:
Made in England
This is a vintage item, but it is difficult to date - I would guess it was probably made around the late 1940s.
Padded lid, with thin leather covering.
Note: I have put a few odd studs in one of the pictures, just to give an idea of the size of the box.
These are NOT included with the item.
Tatty but still usable.
This stud box has clearly been used for the purpose for which it was intended - it has seen good service, and is scuffed and marked, but still basically intact.
The leather is worn, particularly on the top.
The hinge at the back has split, but the lid is still attached to the base, as shown.
The inside of the box is in surprisingly good condition, though the upright piece at the back is bent out of its true position, as shown.
