ENGLISH MAKE

This is genuine wartime "utility" clothing, made during the time of clothes rationing in Britain (1941-1949).
These gloves have the official CC41 Utility mark on the label.
During the Second World War, there were restrictions on garment design , to minimize waste, and to ensure that resources could be concentrated on providing necessary supplies for the troops, together with a basic standard of clothing for civilians. The CC41 mark showed that these gloves conformed with wartime economy standards.
Rationing was also in force - people wanting to buy them, would have had to use their clothing ration coupons (as well as paying for the garments).
This was to ensure that everyone had an equal chance of buying necessary clothes, and to prevent hoarding and profiteering.
Size
Not marked in the gloves.
The actual measurement across the outside of the leather (across the palm) is three-and-one-eighth inches.
The length, finger tip to cuff, is ten inches approx.
Weight 45g.
Please remember that these are very old gloves.
They were made 70 years ago, to wartime economy standards, and are not likely to be sturdy enough for normal everyday use.
Condition
Vintage gloves, in good condition.
They are about 70 years old, and they need to be handled with care.
As you can see, there is a thread attached to one glove - this appears to be the original thread that would have held the two gloves together in the shop.
Presumably the gloves have not been used more than a few times, as most people would remove that loose thread before wearing them.
There are some scuffs on the part that covers the wrist.
