A traditional English equestrian stud box, suitable for carrying cufflinks, studs, tie pins etc.
With the traditional, slightly risque, equestrian motto "A STUD IN THE BOX IS WORTH TWO UNDER THE BED".
The stud (and the act of groping underneath a bed) are illustrated on the lid, as shown.
The inside of the lid is marked:
MADE IN ENGLAND
This is an old item, which I would guess is probably from the 1940s, but I am not sure about this.
Note: I have included some old studs and cufflinks in one photograph, just to show how roomy the box is.
These are NOT included with the item.
Good condition, but although the box is fine to use, it has seen good service, and is not pristine.
The inside has retained its shape and colour, and is pretty close to its original condition.
The base of the box, however, is definitely a bit scuffed.
There is also a small area of damage on the front top rim, as shown.
This is the reason for the low price.
Please see the photographs.
